MONTESSORI TEMPLEOGUE

CYPRESS PARK

With a capacity for 82 students our Montessori Templeogue school is a lot bigger than first impressions suggest.

We provide ECCE and part-time Montessori services for 38 weeks per year.

And full day Montessori all year round, perfect for full time working parents.

The Classrooms

We have six classrooms spread over two floors, four downstairs and two upstairs, as well as a staff room and an office.

The morning programme is Montessori based for ECCE, part-time and full day attendees.

In the afternoons the full day children enjoy a variety of activities and play based games.

The Astro Garden

Our extra large outdoor garden is fully covered by an artificial Astro surface ensuring a safe play surface for use all year round.

It is large enough that multiple classrooms can avail of it at the same time.

There is a large selection of playhouses, cars, bikes and scooters to ensure hours of endless fun and laughter.

montessori
method

self concept

Since opening in 1993 Horizons Montessori School has been nurturing children and directing them to develop to their individual ability in a Montessori environment that is true to the teachings of Maria Montessori.

Maria Montessori

The Montessori method of education, named after the Italian physician Maria Montessori, emphasises the importance of the development of self-concept.

She believed education to be a preparation for life, not a search for intellectual skills.

Through her own teachings and discoveries Maria Montessori learned that the mind of the young child is absorbent.

Therefore the environment should be prepared carefully to train senses, to stimulate curiosity, to satisfy the need to know and to protect the child from unnecessary failure.

Sensory Motor Activities

The environment is set up as a bridge between the home and the wider world.

In early childhood, Montessori students learn through sensory-motor activities.

Working with materials that develop their cognitive powers through direct experience and use of all their senses.

Children move from the concrete to the abstract.

Developing at their own individual pace.
