Ladder Of Opportunity

Who better to describe their experience of working in Horizons than current members of our teaching family.

NIAMH O’FLANAGAN
Montessori Directress

I have been working with Horizons since September 2018, during my time here as a Montessori teacher and afterschool practitioner I have been provided the opportunity to work with a wide range of ages from preschool through primary and thoroughly enjoy the diversity and unique aspects that both roles provide.

I feel incredibly lucky that I can get to guide the children in our care through the calm, peaceful nature of the prepared environment in the classrooms that in turn fosters the children’s sense of well being.

My love of both children and the Montessori Method of teaching is matched by each individual that works in Horizons and it is amazing to be part of such a fantastic team of teachers that have the same goal of providing high quality care and guidance to each child in a fun environment.

Horizons has proved to be a very professional working environment that encourages both personal and professional growth and development.

It is a pleasure to come to work every day and be a contributing part of a wonderful community that has been built since 1993.

NICHOLA MCCABE
Montessori Directress

I have been privileged to teach in Horizons now for 24 years. I did my teacher training with both Fiona O Kelly and Fiona Ni Chochlain in 1993 when they had just set up a little Montessori school in a house in Fortfield Park.

I was employed by the girls after I got my degree in St Nicholas College in Dun Laoghaire and have been with them ever since.

Horizons has a true Montessori ethos that resonates throughout the school from the top down. I am a Mum of 4 boys who have all gone through Horizons, something that I am extremely grateful for.

They have all been exposed to science experiments, classical music and art appreciation at such an early age, not to mention the amazing teachers!

The Horizons experience has given them a natural hunger for learning new things which is fantastic. All of the boys are now coping very well in their respective primary and secondary schools and have an appreciation of the school system which I can trace back to their educational roots back in Horizons.

I am delighted to have had the opportunity to send my boys to an amazing school environment that nurture all their interests and I am so proud to work in such a well-rounded caring and vibrant work environment.

AMY BURNS
Montessori Manager

I have been teaching in Horizons for 18 years.  I began my Horizons journey as a student in 2000 and the following year I very happily accepted a full time position as Montessori Directress.

After 3 years teaching in both the Junior Montessori Rooms and the Montessori Room I was then promoted to Homework Club Manager.

I am now managing 15 years and I love every minute of it! Fiona and Fiona have given me so many opportunities to progress and develop within the school.

They are both incredibly approachable and since 1993 they have developed such a unique and special Montessori School and Homework Club, where they respect and value each and every teacher as much as they do the children.

Not only do I feel lucky to be part of Horizons but my children are also enjoying their Horizons journey too!
